The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) joins the Light Communication Alliance to advance global research and development.

The Light Communication Alliance, the world’s most extensive consortium dedicated to advancing light communication technologies, announces the inclusion of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) as its newest member. TII, a leading global research centre renowned for its commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge, will now bring its pioneering expertise to the forefront of light communication innovation.

As part of the Abu Dhabi Government’s Advanced Technology Research Council, overseeing technological advancements in the emirate, TII has consistently demonstrated its disruptive influence in the realm of science, setting new standards and catalyzing transformative change. With a focus on discovery, TII has become a beacon of innovation across diverse domains including Advanced Materials, Directed Energy, AI and Digital Science, Propulsion and Space, Autonomous Robotics, Quantum, Biotechnology, Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Cryptography and Secure Systems.

“The addition of the Technology Innovation Institute to the Light Communication Alliance marks a significant milestone in our pursuit of advancing light communication,” remarked Marc Fleschen, Chairman of the Light Communication Alliance. “The institute’s unparalleled expertise and commitment to innovation perfectly align with our mission to inspire the development of a world powered by light communication, and we are excited to embark on this collaborative journey together.”

He added, “We are also delighted and honored to announce the addition of our first research institute in Abu Dhabi, marking our second member from the UAE. We firmly believe that the institute’s participation in our ecosystem will unlock numerous new applications and use cases yet to be explored.”

Dr. Steevy Joyce Cordette, Director of the Advanced Photonics Research Department at the Directed Energy Research Center (DERC) in the Technology Innovation Institute, will be joining the board of the Light Communications Alliance, further solidifying TII’s dedication to driving progress within the alliance.
